David Sable began studying and practicing Buddhism in 1971 as he completed his Masters degree in psychology at Teachers College, Columbia University. Trudy Sable, Ph.D., became a student of Chögyam Trungpa Rinpoche in 1976. She began teaching in 1978, and attended her first Kalapa Assembly in 1979/80, receiving the transmission for the Werma Sadhana at that time.
