Residency

Live here for a while. From a month to two years, a life organized around practice, with a room, meals and most programs free of tuition, open to newcomers and experienced meditators alike.

A residency is a stay of a month to two years in the household, in the quiet of rural Vermont. It is open to newcomers and to experienced meditators, and asks one thing above all: a sustained meditation practice.

What residents receive

  • Most programs free of tuition.
  • A room, and three meals a day.
  • Meditation instructors of your own, and retreat planning with the Retreats Coordinator.
  • The meditation rooms, the Dharma archive and the library, and the center's other amenities.

About twenty people seated in meditation on blue cushions in a sunlit shrine room with red pillars and shoji screens.

What residents give

  • At least four of the twice-daily group practice sessions each week.
  • At least one community meeting a month.
  • A share of rota, the household's work: the dishes, the cleaning and roles in the community's practice.

Working while you are here

Fiber-optic wifi is included. Office space can be rented, and the Zoom studio and conference equipment are free by appointment. Calls, video calls and films are kept to private rooms, offices and the rooms set aside for them; see Electronic devices.

Applying

  1. Send an application.
  2. Talk with us in an interview.
  3. Pass a background check, with references we can contact.

If the arrangement does not work out, a seven-day refund guarantee applies.
