David Sable began studying and practicing Buddhism in 1971 as he completed his Masters degree in psychology at Teachers College, Columbia University. He studied Focusing with Dr. Eugene Gendlin, Dr. Robert Lee and David Rome from 2002 to 2005 and combined his Buddhist experience with Focusing to develop a unique method for contemplative interaction. He applies contemplative interaction in his teaching and in workshops for professionals interested in transformative learning. He is currently pursuing doctoral research at Dalhousie University on the impact of contemplative practices on critical thinking. In 1975 David was authorized by Chögyam Trungpa Rinpoche to begin teaching Buddhism and meditation. Director of the Shambhala Meditation Center in Washington, DC for eight years, he is now a senior teacher at the Shambhala Center and part-time faculty at Saint Mary's University in Halifax, Nova Scotia.
