Christopher Mazura lives with his two boys, Rhys (7) and Sebastian (5), in rural upstate New York. Together, they enjoy dancing to pop-music, writing poetry, exploring the out-of-doors, and constructing stuff with anything close at hand. Christopher is also a full-time classroom teacher, as well as a teacher educator, researcher, and writer. He is the Co-Director of the Capital District Writing Project, an organization that envisions a future where every person is an accomplished writer, engaged learner, and active participant in civil society. Across these areas, Christopher’s primary focus is supporting young people in entering critical cultural conversations -- with confidence and compassion. In 2017-18, he was named an Educator of Excellence by the New York State English Council. He has practiced in the Shambhala tradition for 17 years.
