Program
Chöd Gathering - Weekend
Summer 2024
This program has ended.
Ruthlessly Severing Ego-clinging Chöd practice was developed by the eleventh-century yogini Machig Labdrön. It is a generosity practice designed to sever ego-clinging, especially clinging to one's body. Traditionally Chöd practitioners would go to the charnel grounds and visualize offering their body to diseases, fears, personal demons and other frightening elements. Making this kind of offering directly confronts one's attachment to body and life. The annual chöd gathering returns to Karmê Chöling For many years KCL has offered a place for students to practice ‘Chö Lüjin’ as a group. It was here that Khenpo Rinpoche gave teachings on initiations and had the practice translated into English. We will again be gathering at Karmê Chöling to do this practice, both individually and as a group. Please join us if: You are a chöd practitioner of any sort and would like to practice Chöd in English. You have finished your ngondro and would like to try this practice. There is also the option of attending the Full Chöd Retreat from Sept. 17 - 23. The Full Retreat will include two days of instruction, where the weekend portion will not. This gathering will also practice Karma Chagme’s ‘Song of the Mother,’ a short guru yoga for Machig Labdrön. Getting Here Visit our Directions and Transportation page to see different options for traveling to Karmê Chöling including pick-up service from Hanover, Lebanon, White River Junction and Burlington to our front door.
